North Argyll House
Care Home Oban

Medical Care

We would encourage residents to retain their own Doctor. However, for residents from outwith the Oban area, North Argyll House can arrange for registration with a local Doctor.

Hospital treatment

North Argyll House is conveniently located approximately two miles from the local Hospital.

Should residents become unwell or are admitted to hospital, relatives/next of kin are informed as soon as possible. Should the residents' condition allow it, our staff will care for them in the comfort of their own room.

Medicines are administered in a way that recognises privacy and dignity by trained members of staff.

It may however be possible for residents to take responsibility for keeping and taking their own medicines, if it is safe for them to do so.

The Home keeps accurate and up-to-date records of all medicines taken, not taken, ordered and disposed of.

Dental Treatment

The community Dentist visits the Home on a regular basis. If dental treatment is required we will be pleased to arrange an appointment at the dental surgery, or for a dentist to visit.

Optical Health Call visits the Home on a regular basis. However, if residents wish to have an eye-test or consult an Optician of their choice, an appointment can be arranged.

In the unfortunate event of bereavement, the family can expect every possible support and consolation from staff. Whereas funeral arrangements are usually made by the next-of-kin, the Home staff can be relied upon to assist and explain what is required.
